Office to Residential – Government Change of Use plans announced
The government has announced it’s radical new plan to give permitted development rights for conversions of office space into flats without the need for planning permission.
The government move, as part of the 2011 Budget Plan for Growth, has been made in order to deliver new homes, promote the creation of new jobs in the construction sector and also help regenerate our town centres.
Broadly welcomed by the property and construction industry, the new move will amend the current General Permitted Development Order (GDPO) 1995 and is expected to lead to a significant rise in the number of planning applications from developers.
