Zero Carbon Homes for the Homes and Communities Agency

The Homes and Communities Agency has bought a substantial plot of land at a former army camp at Whitehill and Bordon in East Hampshire with a view to developing a new eco-community.

The site was bought for £3 million after the Ministry of Defence recently released the land for sale.

The former barracks will be converted into an eco-business park as well as zero carbon homes for the town. The HCA investment on the site is part of a broader regeneration plan for the area which is planned to create 4,000 environmentally sustainable homes and over 5000 jobs.

Deputy Council Leader for East Hampshire Glynis Watts, was happy to see inward investment stating it was “……a great step forward for the town……..The Homes that will be built will meet local aspirations because they will be attractive, cheap to run and in a great environment.”

The regeneration project is planned to commence in 2014 and be completed by the start of 2016.
